PB:
Have recently been wondering how any one person can see the whole economy
Its so flat here we can see for 70 miles on clear day, so can see the activity.
People in Mich tell me its poor, but the natives( sorry Craig), have been moving South in droves for many years to follow new auto/tech industries.
No use talking to anyone in Calif, could not tell without driving thru 100 cites in the LA basin and visiting the outback where new tracts are being built.
. That wreck yesterday on I-5 tells me things are still moving- or trying to..
Thought we may have to trust Government reports on the economy- but who trusts the people who give them the data?. They would say, boy things are tough here, the streets are bad, the sewers are rotting, we need more schools and teachers need more pay. Tell Uncle Sam its bad we need M-O-N-E-Y.
Several homebuilders (covering many states just reported sales and backlog up close to or over 100% from a year ago.
So the economy may not be quite as good as we see it, but IMO its not nearly as bad as government data
says. Snow could bring this season Christmas sales nearly back to normal.
Regards
Sig
Rats. the NAS is up 500, how can I buy that stuff back?. Might have to wait for the Greenspan dip.

Visited small formerly sleepy town of Azle nearby today
Business situation about the same as you noticed.
Vacant old stores along street now occupied, cars parked everywhere.
Five of 12 nearby neighbors , previusly doing off-and -on work or nothing, now employed full time.
Complaining about new people building to close to them. Despite an obvious improvement to the appearance
of the general neighborhood (g) Sig
