Thanks KC. A Mindless Zombie award to author Jim Rogers. It was a rehash of the boring old whine that investors were not responsible for their decisions. Free will has ceased to exist in the USA, which the government seems to be ensuring is the case, removing any decision-making power from people. Softly, softly catchee monkey.

<Remember how he began marveling at the "remarkable wave of new technologies" and a "once-in-a-century acceleration of innovation" and "a pivotal period of economic history" where "I see nothing to suggest these opportunities [of high rate of return productivity enhancing investments] will peter out any time soon" in 2000? >

In hindsight, Uncle Al KBE was right. There is still huge innovation continuing to make all other developments look trivial. The writer who mentioned electricity, automobiles, airplanes, telephones, radio, wireless, refrigeration and several other things came together doesn't realize the size and scope of developments happening now. Perhaps that's because cyberspace is abstract whereas we can see cars and ships full of meat. Telephones and radio before 1929 were trivial in their effect though harbingers of the amazing cyberspace age now under construction.

Not only that, but we are doing it [producing these near-zero marginal cost technologies] for 6 billion people instead of a few million. The synergy is stupendous.

How come you have been such a statistical weirdo? To be got from behind three times in 10 years is odd. Perhaps you could try slowing sooner and leaving a greater gap between you and what's happening in front and driving by managing those behind you as well as yourself - quite a few people need to be managed from the front.

Thanks for the JimRogers link. There seems to be a non-stop supply of such Mindless Zombies.

Uncle Al's main job is to maintain the value of the US$ and pay King George II the maximum dividend possible. He has done an amazing job. The US$ is maintaining its value nicely. People around the world continue to have confidence in it. Dividends have been huge.

I recommend you take up smoking again and see if that stops the rear-enders [just have two a day].
