Dear Westi: In keeping with my studies about Luke chapter 22:26 " but he that is the greatest among you let him be as the "younger". And he that is chief, as he that does serve."

I'll give you my views on this and boy if I'm right it really gets deep. I can see the big picture and my greatest challenge is to be able to communicate what I can see spiritually to you.

In Genesis 25:23 and in Romans 9:12 the reference is of Isaac's wife Rebekah being told by a messenger that her elder son would serve the younger or Esau the oldest would serve the youngest Jacob..

Again in Genesis 48:14 Ehriams had Jacobs right hand blessing while the oldest Manasseh had Jacobs left hand or lesser blessing.

Pastor Holly taught on this many times. His reference was that the younger son in Christ would receive the right hand blessing.( remember when Jacob was on his deathbed and Joseph brought his two sons in for a blessing and Jacob crossed his arms and gave the youngest the right hand blessing or the greater blessing ) The church or body of Christ being the younger son. After all we are the latest being born in the nation of Israel or the "spiritual" Israel.

In Romans 9:13 "But Esau have I hated." Why was Esau hated?

He was hated because of disobedience. Esau did not do as God elected that he do, which was to serve the younger. ( think about it he was being disobedient ...for this reason right? )Exactly what we under Christ are commanded to do. Esau in fact hated God for losing his birthright or the right hand blessing Esau was not hated for losing his birthright which by all accounts was a foolish and unwise thing to do. Esau was hated for not taking on the heart of a servant and for not serving his "younger".
Am I starting to make sense? I know this is making sense now ....Esau was not hated I repeat not hated for being foolish and making a mistake all of us do that..he was hated for his disobedience in not serving the younger.

Do you see that even today as the 'elder' son ...or the really younger son serving in the elder's position we can as well be hated by God for not taking on the heart of a servant and not serving the "younger".

There appears to be a major contradiction here. How can we as the elder really have a younger mentality. Are we an elder or a younger? To really blow your mind it's like this. We under Christ are an elder son but we are to have the mind and heart of a younger son actually serving the elder.

So one can ask??? Why in God's blue earth didn't God just make us the younger son and make us servants and leave it at that without all the confusion.

I am going to attempt to answer this.

In the OT who was the foolish son. Esau the oldest. Correct. In the NT who was the foolish son? The prodigal son in Luke 15:13 . But get this the prodigal son was the youngest son who wasted his inheritance not the oldest son. In First Timothy 5:12 what is the admonition? Rebuke not an elder. Honor an elder as a father.

Why this switch or pattern. Why in the old testament did the oldest sons stand out as the misfits and in the new testament do the youngest sons seem to stand out as the misfits.
You could say that its just hard being the one with the second hand blessing or left hand blessing. But wasn't Jacob in the same position we who are under Christ are in. The really younger son with the oldest sons blessing. Jacob didn't have trouble living with his blessing. In reality, he was grafted in just as we were grafted in .praise God

Westi..there are some awesome implications to this if I am half right...Is the Holy Spirit telling you anything yet? I don't want to spoil any of your fun..

Until later.In Christ..gregor
