Not the FBI - Hoover personally saved the Kennedy Administration - from Congressional Hearings (looking into allegations that a probable East German spy was having a sexual affair with a "high ranking" official). Not the DOD - Kennedy gave them every weapon system they asked for. Not the CIA - the Kennedy Administration probably gave the CIA more to do than any previous Administration. re:"the dirt on JFK wasn't useful, everyone in the White House news crews knew about it already" While it is possible that news crews knew about the "dirt" on JFK, it is clear that the Country did not. Do you think that people would be somewhat concerned when they found out that the President was having a sexual affair with the East German "girlfriend" of an East German intelligence officer? What about a mobster's "girlfriend"? What about the Administration hiding the extent of the President's health problems? Just offhand, how do you think LBJ got onto the Democratic Ticket in 1960 anyway (if dirt on JFK wasn't useful)?
