David, asbestos would have prevented the deaths of 2000 people, prevented the Twin Towers collapsing, avoided the consequential global financial destruction, avoided WWIII and brought peace, light, harmony, happiness ... etc... to Earth.

Asbestos is an excellent material. Asbestos doesn't kill people - people kill people.

As with everything in our modern lives, intelligent management is the key. Just as cellphones save lives when used in moving cars, but their use must be intelligently managed, guns save lives by their intelligent management. So does asbestos.

Mindless banning of this, that and the other is not the way to run an animal farm.

PS: BP did have some mining interests a couple of decades ago, Kennecott Mining for example, but I don't recall any asbestos associated with BP other than there would have been asbestos used in refineries. I'd be surprised if asbestos is an issue with BP. No more than with other industrial companies of the era.
