I just heard from the the person who was the Chief Accountant for the SEC say that it was our boy Andrew Card who called Webster to invite him to take the post.

It doesn't take much imagination to understand what Harvey Pitt was doing to conceal any bad information about Webster: he was doing what he thought The Cabal wanted. The means used is the means he understood to be Cabal Procedure: lie and conceal. Everything will be fine later, you can lie your ass off and the media can be spun indefinitely.

Wrong.

This ex-SEC accountant spoke before 500 at the national accountant's association, and got rousing applause when he suggested the national leadership of the accounting association, and the SEC, should be fired asap.

These mild-mannered folks are highly pissed off at the "great damage done to the credibility of the SEC" under the Bush administration.
