I don't know that "posse" quite gets at the gist of it; but it is certainly a formulation which helps to explain and exemplify some of the dynamics. "[FWIW, if you were aware of her activities, you would feel really foolish over your 24/7 tack.]" I doubt that. You may be misinterpreting my "tack". It was a proxy for questions of meaning and emotional involvement--not merely time spent. Unfortunately, I never got around to the dark side of the moon... Thanks for your substantial response. I have my own insights that I could share, but I think I will leave it at that for now.
