Searle, they are already announcing winners. Two repubs and a dem have kept their senate seats. What they scrapped was that lame exit poll system that allowed them to guess winners as soon as the polls close (in the case of Florida 2000 they weren't even closed!). They still have their own independent polls and actual results flowing in all the time.

Surely you don't want them to risk having to whistle Dixie once again. =o
