Hi Lorne,

The author has gotten atleast one fact wrong in the article:

>Since then, Islam's enemies have fallen back on the tried-and-true powers of fatback more than once. I can't find an article about it, but I do recall reading that there were riots in India over rumors that Hindu troops had dipped their bullets in pork in order to not only kill Muslims, but ensure that they would never collect their final reward ? i.e., a lifetime of being the star of your own personal In Like Flynt movie.

India is a secular country like the U.S. and there are no "Hindu troops". The Indian military comprises of soldiers from various different religions.

What the author may have misread was India's first war of independence (also called the "sepoy mutiny" by the British") - when the Muslim regiments revolted against the British on rumors of usage of Pig fat in the grease for the bullets.... the Hindu regiments also joined them on similar rumors of the use of cow fat. This was way back in 1857.

India has the second largest Muslim population in the world, with a constitution that allows for different laws for each religion. If India were do something as stated in this article, we would have the worst civil war in the history of the world (measured in the loss of lives).

I hate to agree with Hamas on anything but I must say that, theologically, I think they've got the better of this argument. Biblical or Koranic interpretation of God's will cannot actually be more powerful than God's will. Otherwise, God would be powerless, bound by the limited understanding of man and unable even to change his mind, which would be odd.

IMO, God makes the evidence of His will clear for all of the faithful to see.
