Democrat Election Sleaze in Arkansas

Here's a repeat of Missouri's Democrat sleaze from 2000: A judge in heavily Democrat Pulaski County, Ark., ordered that polls stay open until 9 p.m. By law the polls are supposed to close at 7:30 p.m., though voters in line at that time are allowed to vote.

The Arkansas Supreme Court voided the order - but not until 9 p.m.

Republican officials accused Democrats of trying to steal the election. The media are predicting that Democrat Mark Pryor has narrowly defeated Sen. Tim Hutchinson in a crucial race that could decide which party controls the Senate.

Arkansas' Democrat party, claiming that voters faced long lines and that some polling places in the Little Rock area were out of ballots, pushed through the Pulaski court order.

Polls in Republican counties were not allowed to stay open late.

In St. Louis in the last presidential election, a Democrat judge also ordered that polls in heavily Democrat slums illegally stay open late. The Missouri Supreme Court later overturned that fiat, but the damage had already been done.
