<<Seems like they are losing some of the African American vote that they have counted on to win previously.>>

90% is an anomaly in a free republic in the long run. The deterioration has been underway for some time now...

The Big Key of relying on the african american vote lies in the math. Blacks are approx 12% of the population, the voters among them are voting as high as 85%, they have run into a ceiling, they as a block are marginalized to the extnet that if they dont build new alliances their influence will plummet.

Contrast that with the fact that more than 51% of the Electorate does not vote, the pool for Independent voters is all upside. The Republicans who dont understand this will fall into the same trap that the math of the blacks is at now.

The NON Voting Majority is the Independent swing vote, not owned or beholden to anyone. Take them for granted and watch the slippery slope take away the momentum it's bestowed on you.
