Iorne - Re religions all have some very stupid laws that their members are to live by. islam is the worst Far be it from me to defend any religion, but let me point out that while I agree with you that all religions have "stupid laws", Islam is by no means singularly egregious in this respect. Take this law against eating pork. You might be interested to learn that it is also forbidden for Jews. In fact, not only does the Jewish God forbid them to eat pork but also all seafood with shells. The explanation for pork is, I believe, that in those days pigs were raised in filthy conditions, and their meat went sour very fast in the desert heat. This is why Jews and Muslims were forbidden by their respective deities from eating pork. The case against seafood with shells is a little less credible. I think it was because shell animals are found near unsanitary waters that Jews do not eat seafood with shells even at our day and age. So just how can any person actually in this day and age still believe this sort of stupidity. If you ask me, I could argue the same thing for faith in God. However, I advise you again not to be disrespectful about other people's traditions and belief systems. Belief, by definition, is far from rational thought. This is not disrespectful on my part, a lot of islam is very stupid and does not fit in the world to day. It is disrespectful of you to call other people's religion "stupid". Period. Islam will have to go through its own period of enlightenment, probably with a lot of bloodshed, just like Christianity did in the Dark Ages in Europe. Inquisition and Witch Hunts also look very stupid when we look at them now, don't they? I'm sure you have read some of the things in the hadith? Hadith are stuff that Prophet Mohammed allegedly said. So much is attributed to him in hadith that one wonders if the guy never slept and just talked incessantly 24 hrs a day. Most of them are hearsay. Not that I would be able to tell which is original words of Mohammed and which are not, but I wouldn't worry about them in any case if I were Muslim. ,
