The last time the Republicans controlled the Congress and the Presidency, Ike was in office. Not a bad time, government- wise......

Damn, Laz, I hate to have to agree with you, but I do.

The only thing is, I would prefer the gridlock to be the Repubs controlling the Senate and the Dems the House so we can get some judicial nominees off the table and into office.

But I have to agree with you that in general terms, the less the feds can do, the better.

All government should be local. All taxes should be voted on only by people who live near to you and who can't excape from meeting you in the grocery store, barber shop, etc.

It's amazing how responsive to the people a politican can be when he his electorate are his close neighbors. And it's amazing how much more effective you can be in voting good people into office when you have plenty of chance to know the personally, or at least to know first hand people who know them personally.

Going by my old motto "Gridlock is good!", this election is a disaster.

When the Dems control both houses we get more spending on the Dems priorities. When the Republicans control both houses we get more spending on the Republican's ideas. When control is divided we get a compromise. Both parties get to spend what they want to spend...

Will still have some gridlock. The Republicans will not have a fillabuster proof majority in the Senate. If the Democrats want to obstruct things they will be able to do so.
