If you take the average young male in a traditional culture, stick his face right in the Bay Watch babe's cleavage and then have her jiggle, you might just solicit some interest.

they couldn't help themselves?

I can't argue that U.S. businesses don't do their best to drum up business, but the people in the other countries can always say "no".

Do you really think that McDonalds could survive in France or Germany if the French and Germans didn't go in there and buy a Big Mac every now and again?

You don't see too many other countries buying American beer. I would argue that when American products are purchased, the reason that they are bought is that they are simply better (or more accurately, a better value). Just like when we buy Japanese cars or German beers or French..ummm, Fries (I refuse to say "wine" since I like California wines), it is because their products are better. And if an American doesn't like that the Japanese are selling cars successfully in the US and that it is importing Japanese culture, then I would say the same thing to them.
