DECISION ON INTEREST RATES

On the TV in bold letters: Fed Decision On Interest Rates Imminent, with Rick Santelli intensely pointing and waving his hands, they want you to know that it's big. It's IMMINENT.

The voice comes out of a telephone booth and sounds hollow like it's coming out of a well. You know it should mean something since it prompted a lot of scurrying and gum beating, but what does it mean? After "the FED has decided to make no changes to interest rates at this time citing ...", or some such blab, the markets usually wrench one way and then the other only to end up unchanged. The bond players in the pit get their "movement" and most lose a little accordingly, but that's it. All that noise for nothing.
