something I have learned from Scan disk , is to close everything in your system tray , for starters , disable your screen saver , which u have done .

for your start up programs in your system tray, run msconfig

hope this helps

the less programs u have in your system tray the better it is , also free's up memory :( something I'am lacking now with 256k rdram , can't have more than 4 windows open at a time now , compare to 12 before , what is using all my memory

E, You can also "turn off" your always on cable by turning off the cable modem or unhooking the coax..just a thought. You machine could be receiving chit without your knowledge
