The what and why are not important. The question is, Is the statement true as reasonably interpreted or false and a lie.

I believe the end of day data indicates a lie was told. Will the liar fess up???

Yepper, ...volatile every time. That's why it is best to sit out this day. That spike is hard to play unless you've got a real good broker. Just parking a fixed buy doesn't mean you will get filled and a market order will typically kill you.
