Actually, I'll disagree with you here. I'd prefer it if oil weren't so important, either for strategic or economic reasons. When I said that the world revolves around oil, I'm stating a sad reality, not a policy or a direction to follow.

This is a reality that liberals want to see changed, and so do I. The difference is that liberals will resort to socialism or wishful thinking to get there, while I'd rather see it done through the free market.

By the way, I remember Bush at one time was praising fuel-cell technology. In his happy-go-lucky manner, he mentioned that it could help America depend a lot less on foreign oil, thereby bankrupting the terrorists. That is not something a greedy oil barron would say, except to pay lip service (which I'm sure the Dems would accuse Bush of doing).
