When asked how the technology market is doing and when there might be a recovery in spending, Michael Dell said "there are signs of stability - not much more than that."

Dell told journalists in Karlsruhe, Germany ahead of a speech to university students on the future of wireless computing that he doesn't expect spending to pick up until corporate profits do.

"As we talk to companies and institutions, they are looking for a return in profitability before (they are) going to renew growth in spending," Dell said.

He said there is still a lot of spending going on, but the computer industry has been caught in the downdraft that has pulled down the entire technology market following the Internet-driven boom in the late 90s...>>
