yeah I assumed that, the rbocs want to recoup their costs in installation. Still, $50/mo is too high and completely cutting off any growth in US bb subscriber rates. It sure seems like they have no overcapacity issues otherwise they would be lowering prices to move what they could. A complex issue, I know. Don't you think if they lowered the rates to say $20/mo flat rate it would spur demand, I do.

OK, Jorj, here's your bio list:

Here are some of my favorite bio stocks:

BDAL – Good tool maker to ride the proteomics wave. Expecting revenue growth of 18-22%, most recent quarter was up 25%.
GENZ – Earnings expected to rise over 25% between 2002 and 2003. Has several partial spin-offs.
GILD – Expensive in terms of p/s, p/e, but earnings are growing and this company has done well with its technology.
ABI – 800 lb. Gorilla in the tools biz, but I don’t see this one doubling any time soon. They’ve weathered the slowdown reasonably well.
MLNM – Lots of cash, great pipeline.
ISIS – Lots of drugs in advanced stage development.
BIO – Good solid earnings, and growing.
BVF – Earnings growing well.
AFFX - First mover advantage, 200 lb. gorilla that's likely to grow.
ARIA – great technology, good news out today, but survival is a question, so this one may not belong on this list. But at least watch this one.

I don't own all of those on the list, and I own some not on the list. There are certainly others to add later.

The genomics revolution is going to have some fruit, and it looks like it will come reasonably soon. The proteomics revolution is happening. Tool makers and diagnostics services should do very well.

Jorj,

I can't easily find the post that started all this, but I gather PG and I, as biodudes, were being asked for long picks.

I also like MLNM, with the caveats PG mentioned (i.e. Velcade had better be successful).

IGEN (very soon). Whenever the technical/macro situation would cause you to bite: KOSN, AMEV, CIPH, CRGN, MLNM, KDUS, OGSI, BDAL, QGENF, TLRK, CEGE.

AFFX, NPSP, ABGX, KOSP, SCIO, TELK on pullbacks.

Short: AMGN over $45, ALKS, CHIR, manipulated flying turd GMXX (legitimate scientists, criminal management) if you can get the shares.

Off to Red Rocks for climbing for a few days. Someone keep sticking a fork in NVLS for me, please.
