i think it's unrealistic to even compare the market of the 50's to the market of today....

the amount of individual investor exposure was practically nil.....the market itself was much smaller, the number of players smaller...

plus the demographics for growth were better, imo.

the same baby boomer population that drove demand then is aging and pulling in their horns today.

were it not for the increased immigrant population (demand-wise), i think the economy would be fundamentally in even worse shape...

more like japan.
