Scott,

When I typed my post to you this morning, I had no idea that Sabean and McGowan apparently felt EXACTLY the same way. <G/NG> I frankly am stunned at how thin-skinned Baker became; he's upset because McGowan stated before the season that this year's team was the best they've had in the last 10 years -- putting "too much pressure" on him and the players.

I've certainly worked for employers that I thought were less than fair or who I felt didn't appreciate what I did. I complained directly to them when I thought I could change things, and when I figured out that my complaints went unheeded, I left. Baker, on the other hand, felt compelled to air his grievances to the press during the playoffs, during the World Series, and for the last 10 days following a tough loss. I don't have a lot of respect for that. Nevertheless, I think he's quite a manager and that the Giants will miss him.

Scott,

One more thing; I bet Baker is a great fit for the Cubs. He brings a winning tradition and an ability to get the most out of his talent to an organization that would love to have both.
