Interesting fact:

There has been a lot of press stating that this is the first time since T. Roosevent 1902 that a first-term Republican president has gained seats in both houses in mid-term elections. Not exactly true. The Republican gain in 1902 was due to an increase in the number of representatives in the House after the 1900 census. For a static congress, this is the first time EVER that a first-term Republican has gained in both houses in mid-term elections.
