Hello Khalil, I have clipped the article you referenced Message 18206347

My comments are

(a) The problems are exaggerated or given more play than they are worth by WSJ, NYT and their ilk;

(b) Zhu Rong Ji uses the problem to energize the provincial leaders to be careful, and they in turn use the problem to get the mayors to be careful; and

(c) The mayors report the problem as worse so as to extract more concessions from the province, and the provinces in turn begs from the central government.

But, at the working level, the unemployment pool is

(a) turning over, as opposed to remain stagnant
(b) workers end up earning more than before and doing real work

The new round of wealth distribution about which I posted earlier is premised on the fact that society can bear more transformation.

The western press also make a big to-do about the plight of farmers, without actually interviewing farmers with the right questions. Question one should be 'is your life better today than yesterday?' and two must be 'will your life be better tomorrow?'.

But, that is not how WSJ and NYT makes noise. Their loss, no ones gain.

Chugs, Jay
