Have you looked at how expensing stock options at these companies (LLTC, MXIM, ALTR, XLNX, AMAT, etc.) will effect their reported earnings? They look pretty "cheap" now by some metrics yet I still fear earnings could turn to losses if options are expensed. thanks

Cary RE: XLNX I noticed this disturbing report today. Message 18207731 Can you explain in layman terms how a router with PLDs might differ in performance or functionality from a router with ASICs, and if ASICs are cheaper why you think PLDs are the future? (not that cheaper is necessarily the way to go) Tnx, Sam

Cary, Thanks! Further reading balance sheet of LLTC,MXIM,ALTR and XLNX I see following Proparty Plant & Equipment ALTR 198 XLNX 447 LLTC 261 MXIM 746 May be MXIM is still working with DS plants. However for fabless ALTR/XLNX what are these? Even on these accounts LLTC looks very lean. btw, what do you make of BRCM R&D => 115 & SGA => 122! Also LLTC and ALTR inventory seems like very lean. btw, yahoo is misleading on financial numbers as profile of XLNX show 597M cash but does not mention 611M of long term investments. Thanks for your help
