As I write this, Bush is on the podium, sounding more Presidential than I've ever heard him. He's relaxed, his answers may be rehearsed, but they do not seem so, instead he seems to be speaking from the heart...particularly with regard to Saadam. Not everyone will agree with him or with what he does, but he strikes me as every inch a President.

Lord, that's a loaded question. I have no idea how to even begin to answer it. Mainly, I guess it stems from Republicans general history of believing that smaller government is a good thing. In addition, they believe that choices/decisions over things that affect individuals like social security should be pushed down to the individual. Also, they believe in low taxes. I believe high taxes are a drag on the economy. Plus, historically Republicans haven't been too keen on unions. I think unions are an anachronistic joke. In today's economy, if you don't like the work conditions you work in, you can get retooled/re-educated and move to another part of the economy.

The negatives is that Republicans are usually pretty hawkish, so this usually creates short term problems with areas like the Middle East. However, the good thing is that problems like these need to be taken care of if we are to ensure long term stability and peace in that region and the rest of the world. There is such a thing as a risk discount due to terrorism and unrest. So Republicans in power well set up the long term peace and prosperity that we're all hoping for. The darnedest thing is that it will probably be the next president or the one afterwards that will benefit from the healthy economy that occurs as a result.

Those are some random thoughts of mine, but this is one of those topics that could go one forever.
