ST. LOUIS and TULSA, Okla., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced that AAON, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAON), a leading manufacturer of commercial rooftop heating and cooling systems, will use Copeland Scroll(TM) compressors inside its entire line of commercial air conditioning products. Emerson's Copeland Scroll is the world's leading brand of scroll compressors.

AAON engineers, manufactures and sells commercial and industrial equipment that heats and cools low-rise buildings. The new agreement with Emerson will feature Copeland Scroll compressors in all of AAON's commercial air conditioning systems, which represent nearly 90 percent of the company's $157 million in annual sales. AAON began using Copeland Scroll technology in its air conditioning systems in 1992.

"Copeland has always provided AAON with dependable, consistent support and service," said Norman Asbjornson, president of AAON, Inc. "Our experience with Copeland Scroll compressors has demonstrated exceptional reliability to our customers while ensuring that AAON products meet today's requirements for quiet, energy efficient air conditioning. Customers expect the best value from AAON and Copeland provides the best value to AAON with its scroll technology."

AAON is the only manufacturer of commercial/industrial heating and cooling systems listed in the top 40 of both Forbes' "200 Best Small Companies" and Business Week's 100 "Hot Growth Companies" for 2001. Fortune Small Business has also listed AAON in "America's Fastest-Growing Small Companies" for both 2001 and 2002. The company is recognized throughout the heating and air conditioning industries for its innovative approach to new product development. AAON's RL Model Series of rooftop conditioners, designed with Copeland Scroll technology inside, contains a unique evaporative condensing design that can reduce energy consumption by 30 to 40 percent in urban office buildings, enclosed shopping malls and industrial manufacturing facilities.

A variety of national chains and major retailers purchase AAON equipment for their stores, including Dillard's department store chain. Headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dillard's operates 338 stores in 29 states. "Customer comfort is so important in the retail business. Copeland's scroll compressors are very dependable and the service is exceptional ... we count on them to get the job done," said Terry White, president of Sunbelt Mechanical Contractors. Sunbelt is the exclusive installing contractor for Dillard's, based in Sherwood, Arkansas.

"We are very pleased to expand our relationship with AAON and support all of its compressor needs with our Copeland Scroll technology," said Tom Bettcher, CEO of Copeland and business leader for Emerson Climate Technologies. "When two companies that share the same commitment to quality and innovation enter into an agreement like this, the biggest winners are the thousands of commercial building owners who are demanding greater energy efficiency, reliability and quieter operation in rooftop air conditioning systems."

Copeland Corporation pioneered the development of scroll compressors for air conditioning equipment in the 1980s. Since then, over 30 million Copeland Scroll compressors have been installed in residential and commercial air conditioning systems worldwide. In addition, 70% of commercial systems up to 200 tons have migrated from traditional reciprocating compressor designs to scroll technology.
