If they truly want to clear this mess (and I seriously doubt they can let it happen), they need to have their hedgebook independantly audited. It will never happen though, for the same reason that LTCM was rabidly opposed to publically revealing its position when their capital position started to become shaky. If their rivals and counterparties ever found out what they are holding, they'd attack those positions like a school of piranha devouring a wounded bull....ERRRR, STEER!<G>
