For lets say the retail consumer and everyday products, the link not considered is robust competition for the consumer dollar. Proliferation of, competition between the discount stores and chains.

For technology, maybe it is just a lack of current demand. People making do with what they have until a technology changing application comes along.

For housing, well? Who knows. You can still find nice houses in nice nieghborhoods for under $80 per sq ft. And I don't see the cost of building most materials rising excessively even with this robust housing demand.
