The devastation caused to many "good" utilities in the wake of enronitis is really beyond belief. DUK is a case in point. I am not referring to the MIR, CPN, RRI, AYE, etc, but good, basic well run companies that have delved into merchant energy and energy trading on a "reasonable" level.
There may be some snakes in the Tampa Electric grass, but the history of the company has been one that has been well run and stuck to their knitting. The developement of merchant energy plants started a few years ago appeared to be a prudent business decision. The recession, with its reduced demand for electricity, and the mess following enron has changed the game. I still feel that TE in the mid teens is an absolute steal. of course, that is not guarantee that it can't go to 12 or 10 or 8 or 3!!! larry
