I like these tablet PCs, I don't think they have anything in common with the first PDAs. The first thing is, PDAs had no killer app, vs these tablets which run PC software. And they are priced right.

This and the media centers are 2 new things in PCs that I think are pretty cool (and especially the tablet is useful, not another blue-sky thing).

But because Tablet PCs offer more features than a regular laptop for only a few hundred dollars more, Ms. Loeb believes many companies will eventually buy them to replace older laptops.

Still, the best initial prospects may lie in Asia, where the Tablet PC’s handwriting software could give Asian consumers an easier way to write their character-based language than with a keyboard. Microsoft, which honed the Tablet PC at its Beijing research center, says that of the seven languages it recognizes, four are Asian: Japanese, Korean, and simplified and traditional Chinese.
