<US poised to act against Mugabe > Tony Blair isn't too happy with Robert Mugabe and his thugs. Neither is most of the British Commonwealth, though of course people of similar proclivities in the area are Mugabe supporters. Since Tony B has been supporting King George II in regard to Saddam Hussein and his henchmen, I am not surprised to see the USA thinking that perhaps they might support Tony B in an obscure ZIM in Africa down under. Demonstrating a bit of power here and there around the world, with a Hellfire from a Predator in Yemen, to some Tora Bora laser-guided tunneling in Afghanistan, some round-ups in Philippines and some yet to be determined action to stop Saddam funding mayhem around the world, is likely to make some of the terrorists a bit circumspect about where they are seen [if anywhere]. If nowhere is immune, everyone is vulnerable. East Timor will, I think, get a bit more support from the USA than they did when NZ, Oz and a few others rolled back the Moslem Head-Hackers after the independence vote and the Moslem mayhem, approved by Indonesia. Henry Kissinger was quite comfortable back in the early 1970s with East Timor being bulk murdered into submission [when Fretilin] because East Timor was seen as tending communist. The USA naively thought communism a greater threat than Moslem mysticism. Now they are having second thoughts. Communism is almost American! Governor Gray is an enthusiast for state control of anything that moves [or doesn't]. Half the public votes for more government, especially if it ends up in their pockets, which is what communism really means. Condoleezza Rice knows a thing or two about East Timor [along with Russia, being one of her specialties]. I suppose she focused on it because of the geopolitical implications way back when few were paying attention. I think she'll be ensuring that end of the Moslem mayhem doesn't spread. Mahathir and Megawati are muttering and moaning about Oz raiding a few potential terrorist sympathizers. Mahathir laughably issued a warning to Moslems about safety on travel to Oz [because Oz gave a warning to Australians about travel to Moslem countries]. Mqurice
