I can't be expected to agree with every word of every web site which is referenced in discussions. None the less, there was a lot of speculation in the 90s, but it was not all speculation. There was the beginning of a real techological revolution, one which alas, is slowing to a crawl as only innovations relevant to the military are being persued, and those are kept generally secret.
