Interesting points, but I am not clear what an unfunded liability would be, insofar as many plans guarantee a fixed sum for payout, but depend on variables such as market performance to meet those obligations. I would be happy to have it clarified.

LOL! Exactly -- if anyone in government uses the word "INSURANCE" in connection with Soc. Sec., someone goes to jail or gets silenced quick.

And yet, careful misrepresentations are persistently made to say exactly that.

This is NOT inadvertent. It has been proven in internal memos in books like "Dependent on DC", Twight, that the top officials going back to FDR knew exactly what they were attempting to represent to the public, and exactly why it wasn't true.

this terminology obfuscates the truth and makes it impossible for Congress to do anything about it.
