The ignorance displayed by a good number of folks is astounding, to say the least. They simply respond to knee-jerks and sweepingly declare that all Islam is to be destroyed. You are absolutely right there are milder or traditional forms of Islam in contrast to the extremist Wahhabism. But even folks who know this somehow prefer to ignore this fact. Actually, one cannot blame them. You see, they probably believe it doesn't take much for the extremists to convert the non-extremists! Also it has to do with their bias and prejudice against Moslems and other colored folks. Before 9/11 the b & p were suppressed. But 9/11 brought them out in full blast against anyone who is Moslem, has a Middle-Eastern look or wears a goatee, short or long. I have heard that some sheep farmers have stopped supplying Moslems with lamb meat since 9/11, and some folks have changed their favorite 4-letter word of F_CK or SH_T to several others like NUKE, FIRE, KILL, BURN! While it is easy for some folks to be logical and reasonable, it is very hard to expect others to examine all the facts objectively. By the way, a man/woman convinced against his/her will is of the same opinion still! That is human nature! Ironically, in a democratic environment, the majority enjoys the privilege to be wrong. Remember the herd instinct or how an entire school of fish changes direction in an instant in response to some distraction or stimuli? BTW, a time was when the Chinese were regarded as the "Yellow Peril". The political propaganda against them during the Cold War was so strong that even long-time resident Chinese in N. America and elsewhere were oftentimes regarded as traitors of sorts! But today lots of American politicians and businessmen regularly fly across the wide Pacific expanse to kiss the Chinese ass. What irony! And, by supplying reasonable good but cheap goods to America, the former Yellow Peril has been helping to keep inflation down in the US and thereby helping to postpone the Day of Reckoning. A former "enemy" has turned out to be an invaluable friend!!! Ah! But I digress. One thing is certain, however. Wahhabism is a no-no and it and Al-Qaeda and Jemaah Islamiyah and other extremist Moslem terrorist organizations must be exterminated ASAP!!!
