I thought P/C usually spike up a few days before options expiration. Does this seem a bit early for that?

Noticed that VIX, VXN negative; were positive earlier in the day. That could mean a bounce into the close. We shall see.
The last 1/2 hour should give some indication of whether traders are aggressively long or short presently.
