I was intrigued by that story, Carl, so I queried Pollack whether that was indeed where his thinking was these days. He just responded as follows:

"A lot of misinformation here. I predicted a war BY March, not IN March. That said, I give it a 60-40 chance. I also do not believe it likely that Saddam would be toppled by Army officers, just possible. I think this is the problem with Kuwaitis reading Austrian journals." [I assume this last is in reference to the fact that he gave a longer interview to an Austrian newsource that the Kuwaitis poached from.]

A useful lesson for all of us that while we're dependent on news reports for info, we should always treat them with a grain of salt...
