a) "investigation" isn't the same as "conspiracy". Avoiding it however is the same as "probable criminality". The greater the effort to avoid investigation the more likely the probable guilt. And this crowd is pulling out all stops to avoid investigation. b) Your thought that Islamists will be policed by other non-extremists won't work if innocents are killed in large numbers. That will just create more extremists. They are in Rumsfeld's phrase "undeterrable". The only option is to counterattack only the guilty, and leave the rest alone, get out. Someday someone will be smart enough to admit we don't have the military answers to their problems. c) "Numbers don't count once things reach a certain point" Spoken like a charter member of the Death Party. The idea of civilization is to reduce mortality, not glory in the slaughter. "We may not be so nice next time" Hubris is fine in the movies. In real life we hold in our hands the fate of civilization for many years. Talk like that sounds like you should face the truth of your convictions, re-up and get involved in these blood feuds. If you can't or won't you are sending others to do your dirty work for you. Ask yourself, "what do I really believe?". Only those who are willing to serve or send their family members should vote for war. If so, you are an honest man even if seriously wrong. On this television show called "war" is much too easy to slaughter millions and chat casually about it from our easychairs. This is nothing at all like WWII. This isn't Japan or Germany, those weren't blood feuds, they were deterrable, and did not desire the hereafter as their reward. Only those who commit crimes like 9/11 can be brought to justice without consequences. Going beyond that, to preemptive strikes without convincing evidence of justification is what the warlords wish for.
