Yes, I have some in-law relatives who were once wealthy and became Lloydes "names". I think they have recovered now. I read a book about the company and only then realized the suffering those poor guys were put through. They were quiet about it, and suffered alone in the most heroic manner. You got to be a very cold fish to deliberately put human beings through that experience. /edit. In fact I'm fairly sure that is the book I read.
