OK, I drew a couple of horizontal lines, and I see the first sell was around Feb. 1, 2001. I also see the next buy was around April 5, 2001 and the sell around May 15, 2001.

That gets the total bear return up to around 15% since April 2000. That's about 2-1/2 years. I believe the 30-year T-bill return would have matched that over the same period of time.

(1)As a member I can only down load 2 years of $BPCOMPQ data.
(2)Updating these two years into Metastock gives these exact BUY,Sell,Short,Cover dates:

(1)buy 10/12/00
(2)sell long and go short 2/2/01
(3)cover short and go long 4/5/01
(4)sell long and go short 5/29/01
(5)cover short and go long 9/24/01
(6)sell long and go short 1/10/02
(7)cover short and go long 7/25/02

Percent gain = 360% as of 11/8/02 close.
