Gottfried, I don't think the wedge/flag business applies to our case here. After 30 weeks of decline (March to Oct '02), the SOX reversed upwards. Yes, that was 30 long weeks. So what caused the rise ? Obviously it coincides with Q3 reports. Next week we get Dell and AMAT. In my opinion, the reaction to those reports will decide the direction. And it will be completely unrelated to the geometry of the charts.

The other factor totally drowning any effect of the charts will be the so called geopolitical developments. I am very sure there will be huge sentiment swings with each dose of disinformation from the various sides. If not for that, I would be totally confident of a steady rise in the SOX to the end of the year. Now in my opinion, whether we crash or soar is unrelated to market news, but very related political news.
