Standard & Poor's Announces Changes to S&P SmallCap 600 Index

NEW YORK, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P SmallCap 600 Index:
* Wintrust Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: WTFC - News), Hydril Co. (Nasdaq: HYDL - News),
New Century Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: NCEN - News) and
Knight Transportation Inc. (Nasdaq: KNGT - News) will replace
Aspen Technology (Nasdaq: AZPN - News), Factory 2-U Stores (Nasdaq: FTUS - News),
AXT Inc. (Nasdaq: AXTI - News) and Electroglas, Inc. (Nasdaq: EGLS - News),
respectively, in the S&P SmallCap 600 Index after the close of trading
on Friday, October 11, 2002. All four companies are being removed on
account of low market value and low price.
* Waypoint Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: WYPT - News) will replace ChemFirst Inc.
(NYSE: CEM - News) in the S&P SmallCap 600 Index after the close of trading
on Wednesday, October 16, 2002. S&P 500 component Du Pont (E.I.)
(NYSE: DD - News) is acquiring ChemFirst in a transaction anticipated to
close on that date. The transaction is still subject to shareholder
approval.

Wintrust Financial Corp. is a bank holding company providing community- oriented, personal and commercial banking services through its seven wholly- owned subsidiaries. The company, headquartered in Lake Forest, IL, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Banks sub-industry.

Hydril Co. is engaged worldwide in engineering, manufacturing and marketing premium connection and pressure control products used for oil and gas drilling and production. The company, headquartered in Houston, TX, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Oil & Gas Equipment & Services sub- industry.

New Century Financial Corp. is a nationwide specialty mortgage banking company that originates, purchases and sells residential mortgage loans. The company, headquartered in Irvine, CA, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Consumer Finance sub-industry.

Knight Transportation Inc. is a short to medium-haul, dry van truckload carrier. The company, headquartered in Phoenix, AZ, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Trucking sub-industry.

Waypoint Financial acts as the holding company for Waypoint Bank, which serves individuals and business customers through 58 branches in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The company, headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Banks sub-industry.
