"History repeats itself" works well as an adage but fails in the gap. History needs to encompass the cycle but progress is linear, along the spiral, not cyclical. I agree that we may never see another market similar to the 90's and I would go further, we will not recognize the markets of 10 years hence. A fundamental change is in progress and every investor will experience the repercussions of the shift. The progress of the change is more than our diminished returns, it is a direct transmutation of the underlying value-strata upon which the economics of investment operate. There will be no haven from the transmutation, in many areas the changes will be negligible in other areas total.

The transmutation is being done alphabetically, that is why Andersen had to go, investing in companies that start with W or Z is a smart but time limited move.
