Tell you a strange tale- about investing. Today we look at management, P/E, analysts comments, research,
rating etc to find a good stock.
In 1993 I bought a Dell and the critical thing that caused me to buy the stock also, was that Dell agreed to send a man out to my home the next day to replace the computer if anything failed.
All I knew was I liked the computer and they would fix it free- knew nothing about the company itself.
But one thing leads to another, as I was running an Atari at the time and had made enough on horses to pay for the Dell, so was flush enough to buy it then. Also had an account at a (fairly honest) broker, and without that would not have bought the stock.
Then later, having owned the stock which performed well, I had no problem whatever in buying more later on
in 1996, as opposed to buying something else.
Analysts today are more than worthless, they are forced to deal with companies already big ( so they have an audience).
I like the atmosphere at Tsco, but all my clothes there- and some stock. I hate Sears and some banks- dont buy their stock. .Its pretty obvious that most buyers like their Dells- with the stock back near 30
Regards
