Yes, you can learn by teaching. . . Many years ago, I was talked into teaching some programming languages. .. I didn't know anything about them. . . but I started with their outlines, studied ahead of the class, and I was learning as I was teaching. And I was really doing a good job at it! It was a 'second' job and I went back to my primary job, where everyone was programming in Autocoder, and proceeded to teach them RPG, COBOL, and no not FORTRAN IV. . . I was a hero and got a raise eventually for helping upgrading our programming staff. . . I was a Sr. Systems Analyst at the time and had about 4 programmers working for me.

I learned by teaching. . . and it was F U N. . . and very rewarding. . . it was good to see your students getting very good jobs right out of school!
