KT,

I personally know the person who worked for Minneapolis and then Saint Paul generating the presentations on how wonderful the stream of tax revenues to the cities would be if they invested in these stadii's. Both cities have taxes on businesses. The retailers, hotel owners, restaurants, etc. were going to generate tons of tax revenues because both cities would have millions of people that were going to visit the city and spend - spend - spend when they were in town. These city leaders bought the stories big time - floated bonds and guess what - it is not working. <g>

I attended one of the presentations and threw up - could not believe what I was hearing. The presentation had no cost benefit analysis and not one page of risk associated with the opportunity. The projections of people that were going to come to town had no bases in history. Of course the owners of the sports teams, hotels, restaurants, bars, and retailers were rooting them on to build. Unbelievable!!!!
