Nadine, I think Safire probably has the best handle on this split of any American. I bet before the election he comes out for Arik. I think Bibi is best for the economy.

Oh, I think he was just holding himself back, trying to be fair to Bibi this first time out. Safire likes Arik and doesn't trust Bibi, just like every Israeli I read or speak to. Even the leftists who don't like Arik's history or politics find him far more personally trustworthy. I'm still trying to figure out who Bibi's diehard supporters are. Bibi is very much like Clinton, he doublecrossed too many of his allies the last time he was PM to have many trusting supporters left.
