I know the Turks had a reason for intervening and beginning their occupation of a large part of Cyprus. And I know that ethinic Turks have lived for centuries on Cyprus with an ethnic Greek majority. Even these facts are similar to the Israeli-Palestinian situation. The Israelis began their occupation of the West Bank after Jordan, which had been occupying the West Bank since 1948, unwisely entered the 1967 war in alliance with Egypt and Syria. And prior to 1948 there had been Jewish residents in the old city of Jerusalem and Hebron.

So even in regard to the beginning of the two occupations, the Cyprus and Palestinian situations are similar.
