Please read the history of the Cyprus conflict. I gave quite a few links and you can no doubt find others. The Turks "invaded" Cyprus in order to protect their own people who were being "cleansed" following the adoption of the ENOSIS idea after the coup in Greece whereby a junta came to power.

The mistake of the Turks is not that they have come into Cyprus but that they STAYED.

Still, although they have stayed, they stayed on the TURKISH part of Cyprus - on the north. They did NOT occupy the Greek side (the south). There are no settlements in Cyprus systematically financed by Turkey, as is the case in Palestinian territory financed by Israel.

The "shooting of demonstrator" you are referring to happened as the "demonstrator" in question was climbing the flag pole in the buffer zone to take down the Turkish flag. It is not as if the "demonstrator" was waving flowers and singing love songs.

This incident was in 1996, by the way. Do you have anything more recent?
