Before 9/11? Absolutely. Right. What else could they be when for months all they hear is of this "immediate mortal danger"? People, while not too bright, don't have to be to comprehend the danger. They saw it for themselves. I would argue that those who DON'T see the danger have a bit of a screw loose.

Remember Bush Sr and the 1991 gulf war....and then came the 1992 election. I do. And what I remember about that election was that Bush 41 was facing the biggest collection of pathological liars ever to be amassed for an election. You had Begala and Carville calling the economy "the worst economy in 50 years". At the time those few of us who were paying attention were going, "What the hell? The economy, while coming off of a mild downswing, isn't what you'd call "bad"". And it wasn't. Bush 41 was, simply put, out-lied. He was snookered by the Dems, after compromising with them on the "no new taxes" pledge, who shoved it down his throat. The Dems are mean, vicious people who have now been exposed as the frauds they are. They are no longer a threat, as the American people recognized in this election that they were total liars. After reforming themselves as the extremist Left under the reign of Pelosi, Daschle, and Gore/Kerry/et. al., they're finished.
